Here are the Top 5 grosses of this summer at the Kerala Box Office. The list is with respect to the gross collections and satellite right business of the movies released this summer.


Sakhavu directed by Siddharth Siva with youth sensation Nivin Pauly in the lead was different from a usual Nivin entertainer. The movie though couldn’t perform well when compared to other Nivin movies of recent times yet has managed to make a business better than other movies released this summer.The movie has made a business over nearly 22 crores from its worldwide market. This includes a gross of 10.5 crores from Kerala, approx figures of 4 crores from GCC, 3 crores from ROI and ROW market and satellite figures of 5 crores.

4Angamaly Diaries


Rated as the best movie released so far by Rediff, Angamaly Diaries directed by Lijo Jose Pellisserry brought in 86 freshers to the industry together and is one of the biggest box office hit of this year. The movie collected 14 crores from Kerala market, 7 crores from GCC and around 3 crores+ from ROI and ROW market. With a satellite figure close to 4 crores Angamaly Diaries is said have made a business of 28 crores this summer.

3CIA-Comrade in America


CIA which brought together Amal Neerad and Youth Icon Dulquer Salmaan which got released in the month of May had an earth shattering opening becoming one of the biggest openers for a Malayalam film of all time. The movie which was majorly shot in Kottayam , Mexico and USA made a worldwide business of 31 crores with nearly 20 crores from Kerala alone, GCC gross of 4.3 crores and ROI+ROW business over 3.5 crores. Adding the satellite rights, the estimated business figures is said to have crossed slightly above 31 crores making it the third highest grosser released this summer. This was also the 9th Dulquer movie to have crossed over 1 crore mark at the Cochin multiplexes , the only actor to do so.

Take off which marked editor Mahesh Narayanan’s debut is undoubtedly one of the best movies that released in this year and has been well received by both critics and audiences alike. The movie , a survival thriller ,which told the story of the crisis faced by Malayalee Nurses in Iraq in between the brutal civil war , made a stunning business of 33 crores from its worldwide business and is all set to become the first malayalam movie to run over 100 days this year. The movie starred Parvathy, Kunchacko Boban and Fahadh Faasil.

Box Office Verdict : Hit (considering its budget)

The Great Father is undoubtedly the biggest blockbuster of the year racking in over 63 crores business from its worldwide run. ( business figures include satellite rights of 5.20 crores which is sold out to Surya TV). The movie reportedly grossed a estimated figures of 33 crores from Kerala and a round figure nearing 18 crores from GCC which helped it enter the elite 50 crores club becoming the first Megastar Movie to do so. The movie still continues its run in Calicut and Trivandrum inching towards 100 days making it the second longest running movie of the year behind Take off. The movie is directed by debutant Haneef Adeni and produced by August Cinemas.

Box Office Verdict : All Time Blockbuster, Highest grosser of this year till date.
